David Hume

David is a Systems Administrator responsible for providing application support, as well as monitoring and maintenance (or advice for same) to clients, especially those needing Enterprise level Services.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of Victoria before the Internet was in the home, David has done similar support, building, recovery and maintenance of high capacity systems for a myriad of clients, both private and government, prior to joining Artefactual in 2014. David strongly believes in the credo "Move Carefully and Don't Break Things".

I live and work near səmiq̓ʷəʔelə, at the heart of kʷikʷəƛ̓əm First Nation’s ancestral territory. Prior to settler arrival, this place provided their community with a place of safety during times of high water, a space for spirit, cultural and ceremonial life, and a valued location for them to harvest and hunt for food and gather medicine. Today, the area named by the settlers Riverview is now renamed səmiq̓ʷəʔelə, “Place of the Great Blue Heron,” in recognition of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm ties to these lands.
